Become a Mentor

Are you ready for one of the most rewarding volunteer opportunities to come along? Then become involved in directly supporting our foster youth through out mentorship program. YES Mentors

In an effort to assure that students are connected to a strong support network, the Fund requires all scholars are matched to a mentor whose role is to provide personal support, encouragement, and guidance throughout the academic year.

YES mentors are teachers, Independent Living Program counselors, or other caring adults.

Mentors are asked to:

  • Meet with their scholar mentee on a regular basis to discuss progress towards his/her educational goal.
  • Provide personal support to help mentee overcome obstacles and achieve his/her educational goals.
  • Review mentee’s financial aid offer letter, academic plan, class schedule, grade reports, etc.
  • Submit quarterly reports to SVCF
  • Participate in meetings and events including a mandatory mentor orientation.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Lany Or or via phone at (408) 558-5439.
