Highlights

Lynnea Trujillo
Lynnea, a graduate of National Health Institute and current student at San Jose State University, spoke on behalf of SVCF at the 100 Women’s Foundation in March 2011. Lynnea’s heartfelt speech earned enough votes to enable SVCF to win a grant of $37,000 to support our Career Kickstart program! Thank you to Lynnea for supporting the foster youth of Santa Clara County!

YES Advisory Board
The Youth Education Scholars Advisory Board has completed another year of representing the youth voice of the Children’s Fund. The Advisory Board met numerous milestones this past year including participating in professional development workshops led by the Xilinx Professional Women’s Group, applied for their first YAB specific grant, and will be leading the effort to evaluate and improve the YES mentoring program.

Mario Keener
Mario Keener created and donated two original pieces of artwork that were auctioned off at SVCF Annual Celebration Dinner in October 2010. Mario is a member of YAB, frequently volunteers to support SVCF at community events, and a talented artist whose artwork has gone to support the scholarships that support foster youth pursuing higher education. We are proud of you Mario!

April Vance
April Vance is a 2009 YES Scholar graduate from Howard University. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Communications, April began work in the Communications Department of The White House supporting the President of the United States and the First Lady. In addition, April is an active member of the YAB participating via conference call from the nation’s capital and manages her own floral business.
